The Scottsdale Soccer Recreational Program is a community based soccer program for players ages 4 through 14. Coaches are selected from parent volunteers who make the program run! Currently, there are over 2,700 Fall Recreational Soccer Season players organized into roughly 250 ‘pure age group’ teams – 5 year old boys teams play 5 year old boys teams, 8 year old girls teams play 8 year old girls teams, etc . . .
The Fall Recreational Season runs from September into December with a break for Thanksgiving. Games are played on Friday nights from 5:00pm - 9:00pm and Saturdays between 8:00am and 5:00pm on City of Scottsdale fields: Chaparral Park, Cochise Elementary School, Mountain View Park and Thunderbird Park. Practices are generally one (1) or two (2) days per week, Monday through Thursday, between 4:00pm and 7:30pm. Some older teams may schedule practices that end at 9:00pm. The volunteer coach and the team can arrange practices to fit field availability, the needs and the schedule of the team.
Player applications to participate in the Scottsdale Soccer Recreational Program are accepted from May to August 15th with team formation beginning in mid-August. After August 15th, the "Wait List Period" begins from which players are placed on teams on a first come - first served basis to fill openings as they become available. Requests for a teammate, coach or practice location are considered for applications postmarked by June 30th. We will try to honor requests throughout the team formation process, if possible.
Our Scottsdale Soccer Recreational and Competitive Soccer Programs are intended to be mutually exclusive: Blackhawks Competitive Program players play for the Blackhawks Competitive Program and cannot also register for the Recreational Program. Likewise, Recreational Program players cannot also register and play for the Blackhawks Competitive Program.
