College Clinics and Events

Scottsdale Blackhawks College Event 2017

April 12th and 13th, 2017 - It gets bigger and better each year!  The 2017 Scottsdale Blackhawks College Event consisted of 16 Blackhawks teams, competition against a local NAIA college program and a former National Team player training players and educating players and parents on and off of the field. 55 college coaches from across the country, representing 46 different colleges, worked with Blackhawks players in a training environment and evaluated players for potential college soccer opportunities.

The Scottsdale Soccer Blackhawks hosted college coaches for two days in Arizona and put on a first class event that allowed for Blackhawks players to gain exposure to college coaches in a competitive environment.  New to the event this year was a game against a local NAIA program for the older teams which created a great overall environment.  College coaches were able to train players and get to know them on a personal level as well as evaluate them in a game environment putting all of these players one step closer to becoming collegiate soccer players.

Also new to the event this year was the addition of a former National Team player. Tiffeny Milbrett is an Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup Champion that has 206 CAPS and 100 Goals, has played in 3 World Cups and 2 Olympics. Tiffeny spent time training the 03 and 02 age groups as well as spoke with teams and parents about soccer at the next level. This was a fantastic opportunity to hear from a player that has achieved so much but had to work for each and every opportunity that came her way.

An informal sit down with the college coaches occurred with Blackhawks Staff and Board Members to speak in a relaxed setting about college recruiting trends in general as well as college soccer and today’s players.  This was a great opportunity for our Club to stay relevant with the college game.

The college coaches had a little down time to enjoy some Scottsdale, Arizona golf, gym time and hiking as well!

Scottsdale Soccer is the only club in Arizona, and arguably in the country, putting on events to this gravity and continues to go above and beyond in the areas of college soccer education and college exposure internally.

Scottsdale Blackhawks College Event 2016

Scottsdale Blackhawks College Event 2016

April 13th and 14th, 2016 - The Scottsdale Blackhawks College Event was host to 40 plus college coaches and encompassed two nights, ten teams, twenty field sessions run by college coaches and a Q and A Panel Discussion facilitated by college coaches.  College coaches represented schools from across the nation and covered each division (NCAA DI, NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA and NJCAA) of college soccer available to today’s student-athletes.  College coaches worked with Blackhawks players on and off of the field to help the players grasp the demands of college soccer on a technical, tactical and psychological level.

A parent-player Q and A Panel Discussion was hosted where keynote speakers Schellas Hyndman, the Grand Canyon University Head Men’s Soccer Coach, and Paul Nagy, the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach for the University of Arizona, shared a wealth of knowledge with Scottsdale Soccer Blackhawks players, parents and coaches. 30 plus college coaches from across the nation were present at the Q and A Panel Discussion to field questions relating to the college soccer recruiting process, communication strategies and college soccer at their respective institutions and division levels.

Attending College Coach Quotes

"The Scottsdale Soccer Blackhawks College Event is great for college coaches to assess the many high quality players within the Club.   Being able to watch and coach players as they train and scrimmage with their teams is a great way to really get a feel for each player's ability, training habits and character which are all extremely important to us in the recruiting process.  It is also a great opportunity for players to be exposed to us as college coaches and get an idea of what opportunities are available to them which is invaluable in the recruiting process.  I highly recommend this event!  NCAA College Coach

"The Scottsdale Soccer Blackhawks put together a first class event over the past two days.  They made every coach feel that their program was relevant and the access to the players and coaches through training and scrimmages allowed us to get a true feel of what prospective student-athletes would be a good fit for our programs.”  NCAA College Coach

The Scottsdale Soccer Blackhawks are a first class organization and put on a first class event each year!  I will definitely be back next year.”  NCAA College Coach

College Testing Boot Camp (PSAT / SAT / ACT)

September 21, 2015 - The Scottsdale Soccer Blackhawks hosted a PSAT / SAT / ACT Boot Camp for 9th graders and older at the Club office.  As our players begin to study for the PSAT, SAT and ACT tests, test strategy becomes a very important component of their preparedness.  As a Club, we want to facilitate as much college readiness as possible, not only on the field but off of the field as well.  This was a great opportunity for players to prepare by gaining necessary information that will allow for them to have a better testing experience whether re-testing or taking the tests for the first time.  This is one of the many components that the Club has offered and will continue to offer in order to aid and assist our players in the classroom as they continue towards their goal of becoming a well-rounded student-athlete.  Each player had the opportunity to learn more about each of the tests, how they can better themselves academically and how the testing process and scores will impact their overall college search.
